Buffet is Best
For Good Health
For a sustainable earth
For fostering community
For GOOD HEALTH
A buffet meal allows guests choices. As a guest walks through the buffet line, they are greeted with not only a written menu but can see all the available options and decide for themselves what they would like to eat.
The buffet allows the guest to be in control of both what and the amount they serve themselves and therefore consume. This can help avoid overeating.
For our Earth
Buffet is beautiful. Our buffet meals are fine dining at its best with market fresh ingredients, perfectly prepared sustainable proteins, beautifully presented.
Clients are able to choose their amount and size encourages less food waste. The clients have variety, they have both transparency and price and the option to Select a buffet that's best balanced for their group.
For our Community:
When walking to and within the buffet line, you have a chance to talk to meet people and make connections.
It's more of an engaging experience versus having a plate passed to to you, where you are seated, for often a lengthy program.
To top it off, a sweet dessert may be served which you may or may not wish to partake.
So get up, walk around and meet someone new!
People and Fair Wages
If we also value fair wages here in the San Francisco bay area, a livable wage for a single individual Is defined at $26 an hour. And that's just for an individual without dependents.
The current minimum wage ranges from $16 to $20 depending on the food space (see new regulation around fast food McDonalds)
If you have two dependents, a livable wage is defined in 2024 in the Bay area s $60 an hour.
If we are hired to catering a 300 guest plated banquet, if the caterer values livable wages, and anti hustle culture like we do The Table Catering, meaning staff get meal and rest breaks, and each entree requires one person to scoop and plate per entree component, we are talking thousands in back of house dollars just to plate your meal and execute during your fundraiser.
The catering staff for a buffet vs plated meal is significantly lower and significantly less taxing on our catering team. A plated meal requires a tremendous amount of people in the kitchen, especially if platting a large banquet where hundreds of courses are be served in synchronicity. I recommend avoiding if you can.
Make it stand out
Bonus:
You get the same culinary delight with an average of 20% less cost than plated.
You can stretch your dollars in different ways for your event.
Whether you want to enhance other areas of your event or save your organization or business money.
Double Bonus:
The Table Catering offers transparent prices per platter, not per guest.
If you know your audience, you can select the right amount of platters for your attendees needs.
For example, do you have a heavy meat eating group or would they prefer less animal protein and more fresh salads? We are happy to provide complementary consultations to best fit your groups needs.
Let Nicole provide consultation on the right amount of platters for your catering event needs.
